...my favourite in CLI is vim but in GUI - definitely - PCManFM.

I was a midnight commander user before but was too lazy to config it. now I mostly use zsh and dired.

I like Thunar, but Nautilus, Dolphin, Konqueror and mc are all good. I guess it is mostly preference.

at the end Nautilus file manager is the best followed by thunar :p
Nautilus is very userfriendly combined with Gnome.
d3lphin is a good move.
kde should remove kruzader or konqueror as file manager.
